Why Catalunya?
Spain has been synonymous with
holiday golf for many years now.
In the south of the country, the courses along the Costa del Sol are
extremely well frequented by all standards of European golfers. However
the 'down-side' of this traffic results in very slow rounds. We, however, have looked closer to home, searching
for tranquillity and superb quality courses that are, as yet, largely
undiscovered.

Unlike many places in Spain, golf in Catalunya has evolved over time. Since the first course opened in 1914 the sport has grown considerably in popularity and today there are nine courses in the Costa Brava. In recent years courses and facilities have been improved to meet the needs of the discerning golf tourist. In general, the courses are rarely overcrowded, enjoy good tee-time availability, very reasonable green fees and a relaxed pace of play.
Five courses now appear in the 'Golf
World' European Top 100 - it is clear that now is the time to play
the Catalan courses, before the rush!
Photographs of mass tourism beaches,
do not reflect the true nature of the area or its remarkable
diversity and history. The Costa Brava is the region that inspired Dali. Its rugged coastline, secluded coves and unmatched tranquillity have provide inspiration for generations of Catalans and visitors alike.
When the round of golf is over, there is a vast choice of cultural, gastronomic and recreational pastimes.
The capital, Barcelona provides an endless source of distraction.
It offers a distinctly Catalan mix of the traditional & modern, with unique architecture & first class shopping. Hotels throughout the region are of a high standard and Catalan cuisine ranks amongst the best in the world.
The European Professional Golf Association
has established its winter headquarters in Catalunya. While many European courses are out-of-season, hidden beneath ice & snow, the unique climatic conditions enjoyed in Catalunya on account of its geographical location, allow the greens & fairways to be kept in perfect condition for playing golf.
The average annual temperature ranges between 15 and 20 degrees
centigrade, which means pleasantly warm playing days in winter
and not unbearably hot golfing weather in summer. You can go out to play and enjoy a round of golf at any time of the year.
